60 000 visitors in Hermanus for four-day Whale Festival.(News)

THE usually tranquil seaside town of Hermanus was buzzing with activity over the weekend as a result of the town's 15th annual Whale Festival, which brought in close to 60 000 visitors over the four days.

Visitors started arriving at the coastal hub on Friday for the start of the Hermanus Whale Festival, which ended yesterday.

Festival organising committee executive chairman Glynis van Rooyen said that despite the numbers being slightly lower compared to last year, the festival was a great success.

"We believe we had about 60 000 people here, based on the vehicle count.

"There were close to 15 000 cars here …
