Apr 18, 2011 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Computer Society opposes NBN Co's plans to deny fibre internet connections to seven per cent of businesses and houses. It argues in a submission to the Parliamentary inquiry into the $A36 billion national broadband network that the proposal would heighten the digital divide between regional and urban areas. The body says that, at best, non-fibre technology is only a short-term solution.
