Vic: Model at centre of Beckham drama spotted in Port Douglas

MELBOURNE, April 13 AAP - An Australian woman claimed to have had an affair with soccer
star David Beckham was holed up at the Sheraton Mirage Resort in Port Douglas, an entertainment
reporter said today.

Melbourne-based model Sarah Marbeck was yesterday seen eating a lunch of pizza and
salad beside the pool at the plush resort with what appeared to be two bodyguards, freelance
reporter and columnist Peter Ford said.

Mr Ford said he was on holiday when he spotted the woman, who is being hunted by the
world's media following claims she had affair with Beckham after a chance encounter in
2001.

He said Ms Marbeck appeared relaxed and he overheard her make comments about how "gorgeous"

the day was and one of her companions replied that she had better make the most of it
while she could.

"There seemed to be no outward sign of her being troubled or distressed," Mr Ford said.

He said other hotel guests did not appear to recognise the woman who was dressed casually
in a red T-shirt and sarong.

The Malaysian-born model, 29, claimed in Britain's News of the World to have had an
affair with the Real Madrid player for up to two years, during which they had exchanged
hundreds of steamy text messages.

Ms Marbeck's father appealed in Perth yesterday for his daughter to call home, saying
her revelations had shocked the family.

"I just want to send a message to Sarah, she's not here, ... wherever you are - Mum
and Dad love you very much. And call us," said Terrance Marbeck.

Ms Marbeck is the second woman to claim an affair with Beckham, after his personal
assistant Rebecca Loos went public.

Beckham and his wife Victoria have now taken legal advice over newspaper reports that
he had extramarital affairs.

The Sheraton Mirage Resort today said that it did not have a guest under the name of
Sarah Marbeck staying there.
